There are many storage methods for garlic. According to storage purposes and conditions, methods such as hanging storage, stacking, burying, radiation storage, and chemical treatment and storage can be used. The specific introduction is as follows.
① Hanging storage method: When garlic is harvested, the garlic ready for hanging storage should be strictly selected, and those garlic heads that are too small, rotten, damaged and damp should be removed, and then spread on the ground to dry until the stems and leaves become soft and yellow, and the garlic leaves The skin is dry. Finally, 50 to 100 garlic heads of the same size are selected to be braided, hung under a cool, ventilated and rain-shielding eaves, and dried and stored.
② Storage method: After the garlic is harvested, remove loose petals, moth-eaten, moldy and injured garlic heads to prevent them from rotting in the rain. After a week or so, carry out the second release. Repeat this twice to dry all the garlic, and then transfer it to a ventilated place indoors, stack it in a storage warehouse or a large bamboo basket, keep it in a low-humidity and cool condition, and check it frequently.
③ Burial method: The width of the burial ditch is 1 to 1.5 meters. After the garlic is buried, it cannot be inspected at any time. In order to avoid rot and loss during storage, those garlics that are disease-free and damage-free should be strictly selected for storage before burying. Generally, rice bran is used as the cover for garlic burial. First, a layer of rice bran with a thickness of 2 cm is laid on the bottom of the ditch, and then a layer of garlic and a layer of rice bran are piled up to about 5 cm from the ground. Do not expose garlic to the air to form a certain sealing condition, inhibit the respiration of garlic, reduce the oxygen content, facilitate the deposition of carbon dioxide in the storage environment, and provide good conditions for garlic storage.
④ Radiation storage: Radiation treatment is to irradiate garlic with a lethal dose of r-rays of 14,000 roentgens. When irradiated, r-rays passing through the bulb will ionize the water and other substances in the garlic body, generating free radicals or ions, thereby inhibiting metabolism. The method is easy to operate, has high fresh-keeping quality, and can be stored for about 1 to 2 years at normal temperature.
⑤ Chemical agent treatment and storage: The commonly used chemical agent is cyanogen, its sodium, potassium, and ammonium salts are easily soluble in water and have low toxicity to humans and animals. The method is to dilute the green fresh element with water 120 to 180 times from the garlic bolting to one week before harvesting, and spray the garlic leaves to inhibit the germination of the garlic. The sprayer used for spraying medicine should be washed after use, and be careful not to spray the garlic seeds, so as not to affect the germination.
